Today for math we were working on adding and subtracting numbers through 1000. We practiced using a number line as well as the traditional algorithm. Some students are trying to use the tree model which works well for addition or subtraction when it does not require regrouping. For additional practice we passed 8 balloons around the room to practice 8 different problems. Several students then solved the problems on the board and then we popped the balloons to find the correct answer. This was a simple fun review for the students.
During science we are still talking about forces. Today we discussed different types of bridges and then used paper to build our own bridges. Tomorrow we will continue this activity to determine whose bridge can hold the most coins.
