We are working on adding details to our sentences by adding specific details to sentences. The students are working through a process of adding descriptive words to write more elaborate sentences without making run on sentences. Line 1) is where they write the original bland sentence. Then they add the following details and rewrite their sentence to make it more descriptive. Then, they answer a few more questions to add a few more details and rewrite the sentence a second time. Finally, they change some words to more exciting words and then write their final best sentence. This is quite the process, but they are so excited when they have a well written expanded sentence to share.
