Students should be reading for 20 minutes and filling out their log every night. They will receive a new log on Fridays and it will be due the following Friday. Students need to write their total time read for the night, (please remember reading time does not include using the bathroom, getting a drink, or petting the dog), write the title of the book they are reading, write a summary sentence about what they read, and have a parent initial their log.
The students can find their spelling words by going to the spelling tab and click on the Spelling City link. They practice their words any way they choose including playing a game on Spelling City.
We are beginning our year by learning about multiplication and working hard on memorizing our multiplication facts. I would suggest going to the math link at the top to find some multiplication games to play or the students can practice their basic facts using the worksheets below. These are simply for practice. As students become more fluent with twos they can move on through the other pages. You may want to time your child and then have them work on beating their time. Making it a fun competition against themselves is a great way to build confidence and show improvement.
